i'm pleased to announce a new company, formed by khalija family member sam jones and his partner alexis marsh. it's called alexis & sam music productions, and they specialize in, well, i'll just quote their site and let them speak for themselves:
"alexis marsh and sam jones are composers and multi-instrumentalists whose love of cinema led them to a career writing music for film, animation, series and commercials. what began as peers playing on each other's scores developed into a full-time composing partnership working out of sam's studio in hollywood. trained as jazz musicians, they specialize in producing scores that feature live performance, improvisation and contemporary sounds. additionally, their scores draw on their experience playing in a variety of genres: orchestral, world music, electronica, folk and rock. with full recording, mixing and mastering capabilities, their studio houses their combined collection of instruments including a variety of guitars, bass, drums, percussion, saxophone, flute, clarinets, ewi, grand piano and synthesizers."

thought i'd take a moment to draw your attention to an article that's just been put up on the circuitree blog. it's a spotlight on my little label, khalija, written by circuitree mainman paul gaeta (a.k.a. pg-13). i'm really happy to see that paul took the time to profile my project, and i'm very pleased with what he did. you should give it a read.

this sunday evening, a series of dance pieces scored by khalija artist matthew setzer will be performed at ARC in pasadena, ca. the show starts at 6pm, and admission is free. the pieces were choreographed by colin connor.

ethan braun's debut khalija release is now available for free download. it's the first in a series of "machine dream" pieces (hence the "I"), and was recorded live at UCLA's Fowler Museum on April 15th, 2010. i'm very happy we've finally gotten a release of ethan's work out there, and anyone reading this should follow my directions and get themselves a free copy of machine dream I.

anthony cantor's debut lp interiors is now available for free download. this is, in no uncertain terms, my favorite drone album ever, and therefore i must insist that all those reading this go download it immediately. it is truly an uncommon occurrence that an album of this caliber is available FOR FUCKING FREE, and it would be unwise to hesitate in obtaining it.
